How to Get Jane Doe in Forsaken
Jane Doe is earned, not bought
Every other survivor in Forsaken is a Player Point purchase. Jane Doe is the exception: there is no price, and no amount of grinding currency will unlock her. You complete her quest.
Budget roughly an hour of continuous play. The hard floor is ten rounds, because of a rule below that no amount of skill gets around.
Before you start
Two conditions decide whether the quest works at all:
- Public servers only. The quest cannot be started or completed in a private server — and that includes unlocking the “Veiled Eyes” achievement that comes with your first conversation.
- You must be a survivor for the collecting, apart from the moment you start it in the lobby. Turn on Disable Being Killer in settings to cut down on rounds where you cannot collect anything.
The structure
You need three sets of three documents (nine total) and then one ring. The constraint that sets the pace:
Only one document, or the ring, can be collected per map.
Two documents spawn per map, but you only get one of them per round. Nine documents plus the ring is therefore at least ten rounds, no matter how fast you find them. Documents are kept if you die, so a bad round is not a wasted one.
Walkthrough
- Go to Jane’s Basement, on the right side of the lobby’s cabin.
- Talk to the Jane Doe NPC. The first interaction awards the “Veiled Eyes” achievement. You can skip through the dialogue, but do not exit early.
- Stage 1, “Aim for the Top”, begins: find three documents for Shedletsky. One per round, so three rounds.
- Return to Jane’s Basement and speak to her again. The Quest button in the top-right of your screen teleports you there.
- Stage 2, “Once Was No Longer Is”: three documents for Dusekkar. Shedletsky’s files become unredacted at this point — the same happens for Dusekkar and Builderman as you finish their sets.
- Return and hand them in.
- Stage 3, “Fundamental Principle of Inertia”: three documents for Builderman.
- Return and hand them in. The document portion is done.
- Final stage: find Jane Doe’s ring — and this one is different. You must survive the entire round after picking it up. The killer leaving the game does not count as surviving. Die, and you redo the stage.
- Return to Jane Doe, finish the dialogue, and she unlocks. You may need to leave and rejoin before you can select her.
The encrypted stage title
The final stage’s name is printed as gibberish: “Aezmwdrv xf n Pxvrh Xnr. - Oiah Rt. Fyavvzn. Bemwg Vx Kapo Co Uia”. It is a Vigenère cipher with the key JANE, and it decodes to:
“Reminder of a Loved One. - Find it. Survive. Bring it back to her”
Which is also, conveniently, the instructions for the stage.
Is she worth the ten rounds?
She is one of the strongest survivors in the game and plays unlike anyone else on the roster. Digital Footprint reveals where the killer has walked, colour-shifted by how fresh the trail is. Shatterpoint gives her a separate 30-point health layer on top of 60 HP, with built-in damage reduction — but if it hits zero it will not regenerate for 40 seconds, which is a real punishment for playing her carelessly. Resonance stacks the stun duration on her Hatchet, starting at 2.5 seconds.
Our reading of where she sits is on the tier list; her full stat block is on the survivors page.
